Meta Grant
The Gretna Public Schools Foundation was honored to receive a Meta Grant last spring for our Elementary Technology Department. Each Elementary Technology Coordinator has received a set of Sphero Robots to use in conjunction with their curriculum.
These robots have quickly become a favorite tool in the classroom, blending fun with meaningful learning. "Our goal is to create lessons and activities that benefit students in our technology classes that utilize math, science, social studies, fine arts, and language arts," shared Jon Trede, Technology Coordinator at Gretna Elementary School. "Our technology curriculum has benefited from these as they empower students in all of our grades to learn computer programming in new and exciting ways. For example, students have to measure angles, calculate distances, and measure speed, all while using higher thinking skills. Students have absolutely loved using them, and had no idea that they were using high-level math skills to program their robots around courses!"
Jon Trede, Technology Coordinator at Gretna Elementary School
